Breathwork is a universal term used to describe techniques that are both foundational and transformational for your body and mind. Therapeutic Breathwork has evolved as an art and science since the late 1970’s bringing together ancient healing traditions with contemporary breakthroughs in mind-body therapies to help free us of emotional blockages and unprocessed events that are often related to trauma and developmental dysfunction.
When an event is too overwhelming for the body to process we shut down or freeze, which is a response from our nervous system. As a result, these experiences can remain stuck in the body and never fully dissolve and move through us. Therapeutic Breathwork can help complete this process by inducing a mild altered-state of consciousness that produces a heightened sense of self-awareness. This facilitates more resourceful cognitive and emotional connections where we can complete this process and release the brakes that are holding these unfinished experiences in place.
This transformational process is guided by Universal Prana which is the life-force energy contained in every breath we take and is the building blocks of all things in material existence. Prana is innately intelligent and knows how to carry out millions of complex homeostatic processes. This all happens without us ever having to think about it, so when given the opportunity, this energy is capable of miraculous healing and is the entry point into subtler realms of consciousness and can assist in bringing a new found sense of wholeness to one's life.
